Doug Davidheiser  (1963-65; player) 

  • Boyertown Class of 1966
  • Played half back and linebacker from 1963 to 1965
  • Member of the 1963 Ches-Mont Championship Team
  • Named All Ches-Mont as a senior linebacker in 1965
  • Participated in track and field while also being involved in gymnastics and diving at the Pottstown YMCA
  • Personal:
    > Earned a BS in Education from Salem College in West Virginia
    > Physical education teacher in the Reading School District for 35 years
    > Married to wife Linda with on daughter (Lauren)
  • Best Boyertown Football memory:  Beating Coatesville 7-6 in which he got a concussion on a big hit on a Red Raider

 

Pete Madeja (1973-75; player)

 

  • Boyertown Class of 1976
  • Played quarterback from 1963 to 1965
  • All Berks and All Ches-Mont selection as a quarterback in 1974 and 1975
  • Also played basketball and baseball at Boyertown
  • Played football and baseball at the University of Pennsylvania
  • Personal:
    > Earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Penn in 4 years>
    > Married to wife Wynn for 13 years with one daughter (Davis)
  • Best Boyertown Football Memory: The thrill and the excitement of competition, and the thrill of playing on Friday nights with great coaching and great teammates

 

Irv Yerger (1966-68; player)

 

  • Boyertown Class of 1969
  • Played running back from 1966 to 1968
  • MVP of the 1968 Ches-Mont championship team
  • All Berks and All Ches-Mont selection as a running back in 1968
  • Named "Back of the Year" by the Schuylkill County and Pottstown Touchdown Club
  • Coached in the Boyertown Optimist program for 17 years, winning several County titles with 3 consecutive undefeated seasons
  • Personal:
    > Married to wife Susie for 39 years with three sons (Rusty, Randy, and Ryan)
  • Best Boyertown Football Memory:  Beating Pottstown 26-20 after trailing 20-0 at halftime

 

W. Harold "Shorty" Zern (1954-56; player)

 

  • Boyertown Class of 1957
  • Played on the offensive and defensive lines from 1954 to 1956
  • Earned All Berks County honors in 1954, 1955, and 1956
  • All Conference in 1954 and 1955, and team co-captain in 1956
  • Personal:
    > Married for 46 years with two daughters and four grandchildren
    > Worked for 17 years at Firestone and now owns his own business
  • Best Boyertown memory:  Scoring a touchdown on a fumble recovery against Plymouth-whitemarsh and The experience and memories of beating rival Pottstown as the underdog
