Ron Boyer  (1953-55; player) 

  • Boyertown Class of 1956
  • Played left halfback
  • Named All Berk County as a senior (after breaking his collarbone as a junior)
  • Also on the track team (sprints, hurdles, and broad jump)
  • President of his class as a junior and senior
  • Personal:
    > Married to wife Betty Lou for 49 years with three children (todd, Shelly, and Susan) and six grandchildren
    > Ran family grocery store for 48 years before retiring to Delaware
  • Best Boyertown Football Memory:  Beating Muhlenberg in 1955 by the score of 28-7; Beating Pottstown (12-6) in the first meeting of the school at Grigg Memorial field; Coming back for a successful senior season as breaking his collarbone

 

Doug Deysher (1961-64; player; 1971-2004; coach)

 

  • Boyertown Class of 1965
  • Played offensive guard, defensive end, and on special teams
  • Played on the 1962 Ches-Mont championship team
  • Named All Ches-Mont and All Berks County as OG and DE his senior year
  • Named to the Schuylkill Valley Touchdown Club as a senior
  • Voted First Team on the WCOJ-AM All Area Team as both OG and DE as a senior
  • Named Second Team All Philidelphia Area as a defensive end as a senior
  • Only lineman from Boyertown named to the 30-year All Ches-Mont Team
  • Coached in the Boyertown football program for 33 years (7 years as a head coach)
  • Currently coaching 7th grade girls field hockey, in this 100th scholastic season as a coach
  • Personal:
    > Married to his Wife Valerie for 37 years with two sons, Douglass and Nicholas
    > Taught physical education at Boyertown Jr. High East for 35 years
  • Best Boyertown Football Memory:  Making the game-saving tackle in a 7-6 Boyertown win over Coatesville as a senior;  As a coach, taking on the number 1 ranked Downingtown Whippets and having Dave Dykie score a TD on the first play of the game;  As a coach, beating Pottsville 41-7 (at Pottsville) with an all sophomore backfield

 

Jay Repko (1973-75; player; 1998-2001; coach)

 

  • Boyertown Class of 976
  • Played tight end
  • Named First Team All Ches-Mont and All Berks County as both a junior and senior
  • Graduated as the career leader in receptions at Boyertown
  • Vice President of his class, member of the National Honor Society, and sport editor of The Club
  • Went to play at Ursinus College and earned All League Honors
  • Played professionally in the United States Football League (USFL) with the Birmingham Stallions and Michigan Panthers
  • Assistant coach at Boyertown from 1998-2001
  • Personal:
    > Has three children (Jayson, Jacob, and Janelle)
  • Best Boyertown Football memory:  Scoring a long touchdown run (70+ yards) against Coatesville, the Ches-Mont league champs at Scott Field

 

Lyn Sorber (1971-1982; head coach)

 

  • Wilkes-Barre HS graduate, Class of 1953
  • West Chester University graduate, Class of 1957 (degree in mathematics)
  • Earned a Master's Degree from University of Illinois
  • Started Coaching career at West Chester HS as an assistant coach
  • Coached at Bristol HS (head coach) and as an assistant at Norristown HS, Upper Merion HS, and Ursinus College
  • Was head coach at Boyertown from 1971 through 1982, winning the 1977 Ches-Mont league title
  • Taught mathematics at Boyertown HS until 1997
  • Elected to the West Chester Killinger Hall of Fame as both a player and coach
  • Personal:
    > Married to wife Carol with two children (Mike and Michelle) with four grandchildren
    > Was an avid fly-fisherman
    > Passed away in 2001 while touring Italy
