Scot Dapp  (1966-68; player) 

  • Boyertown Class of 1969
  • Player quarterback and also was the kicker
  • All Ches-Mont selection as a senior
  • Also played baseball for Boyertown (got the game winning hit to clinch the Ches-Mont title in 1969)
  • Coached at Kutztown University (assistant in football), Susquehanna University (assistant in football, head coach in baseball) Delaware State (assitant in football)
  • Personal:
    > Went to West Chester University, recruited as a quarterback but never played
    > Graduated from West Chester University in 1973 with a Health and Physical Education degree
    > Earned a master's degree from the University of North Carolina
    > Physical education teacher and head football coach at Jr. High East from 1973 to 1977
  • Best Boyertown Football Memory:  Winning the Ches-Mont Championship in 1968, after being picked by many to finish 7th in the league and unity of the team being a close family.

 

Steve Jessum (1962-64; player)

 

  • Boyertown Class of 1965
  • Played halfback and wide receiver and just about everywhere on defense
  • Named 1st team All Ches-Mont as a senior and Honorable mention as a sophomore and junior
  • Score 5 touchdowns in a game on October 25, 1964 against West Chester (still a school record)
  • Personal:
    > Worked as a lab technician at Jefferson Hospital

 

Henry Johnson (1947-48 player)

 

  • Boyertown Class of 1949
  • Played center in 1947 and fullback in 1948
  • All-County selection
  • Personal:
    > Married to Betty Jean, with 3 children (Ernest, Suzanne, and Debra), 5 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild
    > Worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 40 years, living in Boyertown his entire life
  • Best Boyertown Football Memory: Playing against favored East Greenville in 1948, holding them scoreless until the last minute of the game and losing 6-0

 

Greg Lignelli (1951-53; player)

 

  • Boyertown Class of 1954
  • Played quarterback and linebacker
  • All-Schuylkill Valley league as a senior (team went 6-4, losing the 4 games by a total of 6 points)
  • Played basketball, baseball, and tennis for Boyertown
  • Won the McGuire Award as senior for excellence on the field and in the classroom
  • Personal:
    > Has three children and five grandchildren
    > Attended Villanove University
    > Naval flight surgeon from 1963-1967
    > Retired neuro-surgeon
  • Best Boyertown Football Memory
    > Intercepting a pass in 1953 game against Spring-Ford and using an Abby Lichert block to score a touchdown

 

Russell "Longly" Miller (1947-49; player)

 

  • Boyertown Class of 1950
  • Played halfback during his 3 years
  • Played basketball and ran track for Boyertown (finished second in the state in the 100m and 220m)
  • One of the founding fathers of the Boyertown Midget Mite Program, coaching for over 30 years
  • Personal:
    > Married to his wife Joan for over 50 years, with 3 children (Anglea, Christine, and Rick)
    > Worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 40 years, living in Boyertown his entire life

 

Thomas "Breezy" Rupert (1963-93; coach)

 

  • Graduated from Reading HS in 1957 and moved to Boyertown in 1963
  • Coached for 28 years in the Boyertown Midget Mite program
  • Coached for 11 years at Boyertown Jr. High West (1992 team was undefeated at 6-0-1)
  • Personal:
    > Married to his wife Elizabeth for 29 years until his passing in 1993, with 3 children (Andy, Tom, and Mike) and 5 grandchildren
  • Best Boyertown Football Memory: The undefeated 1992 West Team, and being very proud of the team after their final game against East...not seeing West vs. East, but seeing Boyertown Bears
