The Bears returned home and played a Ches-Mont opponent for the first time since 2011.
The Bears got some big plays and showed improvement in all aspects of the game.
The Red Devils opened the scoring at the 3:18 mark of the first quarter, concluding a 13-play 58-yard drive with a Jose Sabastro (22-158 yards, 4 TDs) 3-yard run. A Jared Racey kick made it 7-0.
The Red Devils scored again just five minutes later, at the 9:22 mark when Jose Sabasto scored again on a second three-yard run. This time, it was a 10-play 65-yard drive and another Jared Racey kick to make it 14-0.
The Bears after receiving the kick-off needed just one play to score a 67-yard touchdown pass from Connor Foskey 5-11 passing, 2 TDs) to Tilman Henley (4 catches 157 yards 2 Touchdowns) at 9:10 of the second quarter to make the score 14-6.
Avon Grove closed out the first half scoring when Jose Sabastro scored for the third time from 7 yards out with 2:23 left in the half Racey again added the kick and the Red Devils went into halftime up 21-6.
The third quarter belonged to the Bears as they scored their second touchdown at 10:40 of the third quarter as Michael Palmiero blocked a punt at the Avon Grove 26-yard line recovered it and returned it for a touchdown to make the score 21-12.
The Bears got within 3 at the 2:49 mark when Michael Boorse concluded an 8-play 48-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown run to make the score 21-18.
Avon Grove put the game away as Jose Sabastro scored for the fourth time on a 17-yard touchdown run and yet another Racey kick made it 28-18.
The Bears closed out the scoring as Tillman Henley pulled in a 70 yard touchdown pass from Connor Foskey and that made the final score 28-24.
Avon Grove moves to 2-1 on the Year. Boyertown drops to 0-3 and they will travel to Downingtown East next Friday night to take on the Cougars.
