After last week’s defeat at Spring-Ford, Boyertown head coach TJ Miller lamented, “We just didn’t play to our ability.”

The same won’t be said Friday.

With a spark from Roman Marinello and a humming rushing attack that racked up 334 yards, Boyertown ran past Methacton, 42-11, Friday night at Memorial Stadium.

Senior Marinello scored Boyertown’s first three touchdowns – scoring runs of 15 and 13 yards bookending a 34-yard TD reception from quarterback Anthony Panarello. The TD catch staked Boyertown a 14-3 halftime lead. Marinello finished with 58 yards rushing on six carries and two catches for 34 yards.

The 13-yard TD run capping Boyertown’s 4-play, 65-yard drive to open the third quarter helped it put the pedal down in the second half, outscoring Methacton 28-8.

Senior Leo Egbe led the Bears’ rushing attack with 155 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns. QB Panarello kept it 12 times and broke free for 87 yards.

The Boyertown defense allowed Methacton just 41 yards on the ground. Luke Ordway had two sacks while Cade Sennott intercepted a pass.

Quarterback Dan Brandi was 13-for-27 for 166 yards and a touchdown, a 12-yard strike to Brian Dickey (7 catches, 79 yards) in the fourth quarter.
