High school football: O.J. Roberts 35, Boyertown 13

At Boyertown, senior tailback Marcus Martin rushed for three touchdowns to lead Owen J. Roberts over Boyertown Friday night in a PAC Liberty Conference game.

 

Boyertown (0-2, 1-5) took the opening kickoff and drove 56 yards in seven plays. The drive culminated with a 42-yard touchdown run by Jamie Moccia.

 

The teams traded punts until late in the first quarter, when Wildcats linebacker Ian Sordilla intercepted a pass deep in Boyertown territory, leading to a 1-yard touchdown run by Martin and a 7-6 lead.

 

The remainder of the first half was dominated by the physical front seven of Roberts (1-1, 4-2), which added a Dante Denardo 50-yard touchdown catch and a second Martin score to lead 21-6 at half.

 

The Wildcats defense continued its relentless pressure in the second half. Behind strong defensive line play and aggressive blitzes, they totaled five sacks and held Boyertown to 160 yards of total offense.

 

Owen J. Roberts leaned heavily on Martin, who finished finished with 95 yards on 32 carries.

 

Wildcats quarterback Cooper Chamberlain completed 12-of-19 passes for 141 yards. He added a 1-yard touchdown run, before leaving the game with an injury in the fourth quarter.
