Wilson's Iggy Reynoso and Boyertown's Jerry Kapp left behind numerous records at their schools.
At the top of their resumes is this: All-State.
The Bulldogs tailback and Bears defensive back today were named to the Pennsylvania Football Writers' Class 6A All-State team.
Manheim Township senior quarterback Luke Emge, who spent his first two seasons at Fleetwood, was also named to the 41-member team.
The honor is the second straight for Reynoso, making him one of only a few Bulldogs to twice earn first-team All-State honors.
Kapp is Boyertown's first All-State selection in six years.
PIAA Class 6A champion Pine-Richland landed five players on the team, including quarterback Phil Jurkovec, the Player of the Year. Pine-Richland's Eric Kasperowicz is Coach of the Year.
The team was selected by football writers across the state, who reviewed 470 nominations across six classes.
Reynoso recorded his third straight 1,000-yard season and set Berks career records for rushing yards (4,778), touchdowns (79), points (474) and rushing TDs (67).
He ran for 1,557 yards and scored 27 TDs as a senior.
“Iggy has been a consistent force for us with the strength and speed to both make people miss or run through tackles,” said Wilson coach Doug Dahms. “His quiet demeanor hides an intense desire to succeed.”
The 5-11, 215-pound senior joins Ike Schannauer (2014-15) and Jim Fehling (1970-71) as two-time first-team Wilson picks.
He tied a Bulldogs record with six touchdowns — all in the first half — in a 2016 district playoff game vs. Central York.
He ended up second in Wilson history with 47 rushing TDs, four short of Pete Gilmore's record.
Reynoso set Hamburg records with 24 TDs and 144 points as a sophomore, when he rushed for 1,052 yards
His 1,668 yards as a junior are sixth-most in Wilson history.
He also caught 83 passes for 995 yards in four seasons and ends up with the Berks career record for yards from scrimmage (5,773).
Reynoso's 719 rushing attempts are second-most in Berks history, behind the 843 by Boyertown's Brian Roth.
The 6-3, 190-pound Kapp was named Berks Defensive Back of the Year after intercepting a state-leading 11 passes in 11 games, a Berks single-season record.
He also matched a Berks single-game record with four interceptions in a 41-28 win over Phoenixville.
“Jerry Kapp is a one-of-a-kind player,” said Boyertown coach T.J. Miller. “He did everything that was asked of him and more. Offensively, he's a great weapon. If a ball is near him, he catches it.
“Defensively, he's a smart player who put himself in position to hawk the ball. Even more important than all of his on-field accomplishments, Jerry is a great person. He's a true leader that any coach would love to have on their team.”
Kapp wasn't targeted as much this season with the Bears' switch to a Veer-style offense but still averaged 18.2 yards on his team-leading 28 catches.
He became the school career leader in receiving yards, finishing with 1,283 despite spending his junior season as the Bears' starting quarterback. He had 32 catches for 643 yards and 11 TDs as a sophomore.
Kapp is Boyertown's first All-State selection since offensive lineman Chris Muller in 2011.
Emge is the only selection from Manheim Township, which knocked off Wilson to win the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1 title and beat Cumberland Valley for the District 3 title.
Earlier today, four Berks Catholic players were named to the Class 4A team, and seven Southern Columbia players were named to the Class 2A team.
On Tuesday selections for the Class 5A, 3A and 1A teams will be announced.
