Norristown quarterback Izaiah Webb threw three touchdown passes to help the Eagles defeat Boyertown 20-14 in a Pioneer Athletic Conference matchup Saturday at Norristown.
The win was Norristown’s first of the season.
Boyertown running back Marcus Thomas scored the game’s first points by capping off a 10-play drive with a 2 -y a r d touchdown run. The drive was the result of a fumble by Norristown on a punt return.
Norristown (1-4, 1-8) took the lead with two minutes left in the first half on a 62-yard touchdown pass from Webb to Eleazar Hill. Boyertown (1-4, 2-7) threatened to retake the lead heading into halftime, but the drive stalled at the Norristown 13-yard line.
Norristown extended its lead with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Webb to receiver Koran Butler in the third quarter. The eight-play drive resulted in a touchdown despite three offensive holding penalties committed by Norristown. Butler finished with three receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown.
After Norristown defensive back Kirk Wilson intercepted a Boyertown pass, Webb connected with Hill for 36 yards on Norristown’s final touchdown of the game. Hill hauled in three catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns.
In addition to an interception, Wilson ran for 44 yards on 13 carries.
Webb completed 7-of-10 pass attempts for 154 yards and three touchdowns.
B oy e r t ow n ’s T h o m a s caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jerome Kapp to bring Boyertown within one touchdown with four minutes left in the game. Thomas finished with 36 yards on 11 carries and one rushing touchdown. He also caught two passes for 17 yards and one touchdown.
Kapp completed 7-of-13 attempts for 57 and one touchdown. He also threw one interception. Kapp ran eight times for 19 yards and recorded three catches for 60 yards.
Boyertown quarterback Ayden Mathias completed 5-of-9 pass attempts for 74 yards. He also threw an interception.
Boyertown’s final possession ended with an interception by defensive back Boubacar Diawara.
Norristown finished with one turnover and Boyertown turned the ball over three times. Each team scored seven points off turnovers.
Norristown running back Joey Giannone had a strong game on the ground. He ran for 72 yards on 14 carries.
The Eagles were penalized 11 times for 105 yards, while Boyertown committed six penalties for 40 yards.
